Time Warner Will Split AOL

As per Associated Press, Time Warner will split AOL. What does it mean for the industry which is already hot with Microsoft's plans of acquiring Yahoo? Well, AOL becomes a low hanging fruit. Now, AOL has several businesses. Some of those business make plenty of sense:

• AOL's Portal, email, AIM, ICQ , Xdrive- can be acquired by Microsoft or Google either.
• WinAmp MP3 Player - Can be acquired by Google
• AOL's Dial up Internet - can be acquired by AT&T

Watch out for more action in this front.

Should Google buy LinkedIn and Plaxo?

I think Google should buy LinkedIn and Plaxo (and Merge them Both).
Why?

• Orkut from Google is a very laid back platform, it should still remain as is, free and for users who do not need extensive features
• LinkedIn would be like Orkut for Pro - Lot of Extra Features and serious networking
• Plaxo and LinkedIn together make lot of sense. Read more at http://www.brutalclarity.com/index.php/weblog/more/plaxo_and_linkedin_should_merge/. Plaxo has already created a plugin for linkedIn.
• Plaxo is sometimes too intrusive. A flair of LinkedIn would make it simpler and easier to work with.
• Google is a technology company as well as about User created Content - After all That's what LinkedIn and Plaxo are.. Technology with User Created Content.

April Fool by Google

Did you see the Google Home Page on 1st April, 2007? It was a nice take off on net neutrality. It offered free internet via toilets :).

The funny portion of it was that it pictured a NETGEAR router complete with Google Logo and all that.. Which was very funny.

Google Pack changes

Recently noticed that Google Pack does not contain following software any more:

• Ad-Aware
• Adobe Reader (renamed)
• Symantec Anti Virus
• FireFox (why?)
  

But it still includes some of the third party software such:

• Real Player
  
• Skype (Isn't Skype competing against google in some or other way? may be it is on acquisition list)

Do not know why!!!!

GMail stopped growing ?

I am not sure if you noticed, but GMail stopped growing its storage few days ago. Garett Rogers of ZDNet writes more about it here:

I noticed that it has stopped growing and now only realised that It started growing again. Well, I am sure storage can not be unlimited. Wonder how much storage google is planning to allocate?

Google's years of Dominance are numbered?

Mitch Ratcliff writes on his blog at ZDNet about Google's Dominance ending very soon. He says:

contraction of the dominance cycle is real, as computing is the continuation of earlier information ages that have lasted roughly half as long as the preceding ones: Bureaucratic management and storage of information (approximately 100 years, from 1850 to 1950); printing (1500 to 1900); scribal recording networks maintained by church and mosque (600 to 1450).
